My Favorite Streaming Options

Hey everyone! Happy Friday! I thought it would be a good time to go over my favorite streaming services. Entertainment and how we view it is changing at a rate that's hard to keep up with. But with a little research and knowing what you want you can change the way you watch tv/movies for pretty much the same cost. Each service I cover today has a free trial period that will let you test it out for about a week to see if it’s worth the cost. Cutting the cord may seem scary but in my opinion the benefits far outweigh the costs. The cost of cable itself has gotten incredibly high just for the basic packages. If you add on multiple sets for different rooms and any added movie or special channel packages and cable tv can cost anywhere from around $50 to over $200 every month. When you switch to streaming you can enjoy your favorite shows/movies in any order, at any time, anywhere. No more waiting for your favorite shows to come on or that rare Saturday marathon. No more scrolling through channels just looking for something to watch. You now have more than you can watch at your fingertips. To save you some research I decided to highlight my 5 favorite streaming services. Take some time to do a free trial and see if any of them catch your eye!

  1. (HBO) Max- This is my personal favorite and has hit the market HOT. Max, formerly HBO Max, offers a great selection of tv shows and movies including all the critically acclaimed HBO hits like Game of Thrones and The Wire as well as the GOT spinoff House of Dragon All the exclusive HBO and Max Originals content in one place would be enticing enough but wait there's more. Add in all of DC, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, Looney Tunes among others and you can see how this service is making noise. Oh and I saved the best for last. Max streams numerous movies on the same day as the theatrical release! So no need to spend an arm and a leg going to the movies.

  2. Netflix- Netflix is probably what comes to mind when you think streaming service and rightfully so. Netflix has been around and popular the longest and offers the most content and original content. Netflix is constantly changing and adding new shows and seasons. They have had amazing success with Netflix original movies and shows and have signed some brilliant exclusive deals with the likes of Adam Sandler and Dave Chappelle among many others. If you’re going for bang for your buck Netflix is where it’s at. Their vast library of all different genres from comedy to drama to documentaries Netflix has hours of entertainment for any one. Just be careful, Netflix adds and removes shows/movies regularly. Make sure to pay attention to dates so you don't start a show that gets taken off half way through your viewing! Netflix also started cutting down on their password sharing problem so unfortunately each household will need their own account.

  3. Amazon Prime Video- Honestly, if it has the name Amazon on it, it’s probably a safe bet for quality. While it doesn’t have the content library of Netflix or the new movies HBO Max does, Amazon Prime offers a great mixture of Amazon originals with our favorite classics. There may be less but with nearly every show/movie on here being an above average watch you don’t have to do much scrolling or searching to find something you’ll love. They have originals like Coming 2 America and classics like Terminator. Amazon Prime has seen a record increase in subscriptions since it's added Thursday Night Football to the package.

  4. Paramount + - This one makes the list for the nostalgia factor it induces. If you grew up in the 90’s or early 2000’s then this is a must have. It’s one of the cheaper services but offers so much. It has all your favorite Nickelodeon shows from Drake and Josh to Fairly Odd Parents. It also features all the old MTV shows that we wasted hours watching. Not to be slept on it also has BET, Comedy Central, and CBS movies/shows so it’s got something for everyone.

  5. Hulu- Hulu is most similar to Netflix. It’s large library of shows and movies is it’s biggest draw. Like the others it also has its own critically acclaimed originals that are specific to this service. The best part about Hulu are the different options they offer. You can get a basic package with commercials. For a little bit more you can get the commercials removed. They even offer a package with live tv including live sports which is one of the main reasons people are hesitant to cut the cord.
