Get to Know: Me

It’s funny, I’ve asked numerous people these questions but it wasn’t until I sat down to answer them myself that I realized how little thought I’ve put into how I would answer the very questions I’m asking. I have loved reading everyone's answers so far but what I didn’t expect was how much fun I’d have and how many realizations I’d have about myself and how much I’ve changed throughout the years. I wish I had answered these same questions every 5 years of my life. I’d love to see the change and growth I’ve made. Even 5 years ago my answers would be so vastly different you would never guess the same person provided both sets. I’m not going to lie though, I cheated a little. These questions weren’t very rapid fire, so I did have a few seconds to sit and think about each answer. But I didn’t go back and change anything so don’t be too hard on me. I didn’t know when I thought of this idea that it would be such a powerful exercise. It was really rewarding to take some time and answer these questions and realize some things about myself I hadn’t thought about lately. So I hope you enjoy my answers and if you have any free time for yourself try answering some for yourself. You might be surprised at what you come up with.

1. If you could vacation anywhere with all expenses paid, where would it be?

  • I’d like to take my family to Australia and New Zealand. I've always been fascinated by the nature and wildlife there as well as the amazing attractions both natural and man made.

2. What is your biggest fear?

  • Losing the ones I love.

3. What motivates you to work hard?

  • I’ve always been motivated to make my parents proud but lately I’ve found inner motivation in the form of not wanting to waste the limited time I have on this earth. We only have so many seconds on this earth and every second spent sad, angry or doing something you dislike is a second you’ll never get back.

4. What is your proudest accomplishment?

  • As of now I’d say landing this job. Just knowing all the time effort and work I put in. How many jobs I applied for but didn’t have enough experience. Working full commission jobs selling everything from insurance to solar panels not knowing if I was going to get paid the next week just to get that experience. I definitely am looking to accomplish a lot more in my life but as of now there was a lot of work and time put into getting this job and I’m very proud and happy I get to do what I love for a living.

5. What's your favorite local restaurant?

  • Mad Hatter Cafe. Look no further for proof that Salisbury is a city on the way up! The menu is so inventive and everything tastes awesome. It perfects encompasses how beautiful downtown Salisbury is becoming. You have to try the crab dip.

6. What are your 3 desert Island Movies or TV series (Stuck on an Island and it's all you can ever watch)?

  • So with this I have to think of not only what I can watch over and over again and still enjoy but what can give me the longest amount of entertainment. So movies are out. I’m looking for long running tv shows. With that in mind, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, “Criminal Minds” and “The Simpsons”. I actually don’t watch that much of “The Simpsons" that much but with over 700 episodes that would keep me very busy.

7. What makes you laugh the most?

  • I laugh a lot. At a lot of funny and probably not so funny things. But all in all it has to be my family. My siblings and parents know me well enough they know exactly what cracks me up.

8. What did you want to be when you were a child?

  • To be specific, and I can still remember writing this and handing it in for school, “A Hall of Fame, Superbowl Winning Quarterback for the Washington [Football Team].

9. What is your favorite game or sport to watch and play?

  • Football. No debate or thought process needed. I love the mental chess game mixed with the competition of physical wills. Each play involves coaches making a decision and the players executing it. To me it’s the perfect mix of intellect and physicality.

10. What would you sing at Karaoke night?

  • One by Brian McKnight. If I’m really feeling myself All of Me by John Legend.

11. What two musical artists do you listen to the most?

  • Lil Wayne and Quinn XCII. Tha Carter II and Da Drought 3 are my favorite Wayne works of art but his extensive catalog starting in the 90’s when he was 13 years old and still going strong today is the most impressive thing to me. Quinn XCII is someone I stumbled upon and a couple years ago and it’s the perfect summer/beach/relaxing music. I literally have all his albums and don’t skip a single song.

12. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

  • Hibachi Shrimp and Chicken with yum yum sauce. There were a lot of other considerations but this to me is something I could never get sick of eating.

13. What is the best gift you’ve ever received?

  • I’ve received a lot of amazing gifts but I’d have to say the best was one I got myself. After my grandmother passed away I was lost. Then a girl who I had tried to rescue a dog from a few months ago messaged me saying the people who had taken the dog didn’t want her anymore. So I got my dog while in my second year of college for myself. And while she’s been a handful, I still see that decision as one of the best ones I’ve ever made in my life.

14. If you could be one super hero or have one superpower what would it be or who would you be?

  • Time Travel. Simply to see people that I’ll never have the chance to see again.

15. Which one celebrity or famous person would you want to get a cup of coffee with and why?

  • Tom Brady. I’m just a huge fan of basically everything he does. As you know Football is my favorite sport/entertainment and plain and simple, Brady is the best to ever do it. My fascination started because there’s been thousands of quarterbacks who were faster with stronger arms, better physical traits but after all was said in done through his work and passion and intellect he became the most accomplished football player ever. On top of that the way he changed his diet and health to the point he’s winning the Superbowl at 42 years old playing with guys under half his age. Lastly his business acumen and self marketing is awesome and something I love to study.
