Things I'm looking forward to in April

Happy Friday everyone! Not only is it the start of another weekend but it’s the start of a new month! With that I thought I’d focus on things that I’m looking forward to this month. I started this a while ago and it really helps me get amped for the new month and have things to look forward to. Spring and Fall are by far my favorite seasons. As a pale person who hates the sun and the cold, summer and winter just aren’t my seasons. So I have to enjoy the few months we do have where you can turn off your heat, keep your air conditioning turned off and just open the windows. You can wear shorts and a light jacket and amazingly not be sweating or freezing. Amazingly, you’re actually comfortable. Now unfortunately spring on the eastern shore comes with a good amount of rain but if you can get over that you can really appreciate this great time of year. Now while I’m looking forward to the warmer weather and nature blooming, there is a good amount going on this gorgeous spring month. So I decided to go over my top 5 things I’m looking forward to this month. As always make sure to comment and write in with some things you’re looking forward to!

Outdoor dining/events-We’ve started to get little waves of warm weather here in march but it should start to be more consistently warmer this April. Add in the extra hour of sunlight and you have a recipe for amazingly relaxing, long outdoor events into the twilight of the night. Whether it's as simple as dining outside at your favorite restaurants or enjoying an outdoor concert/show expect many more options this month! I’m starting it off by going to the Spring Market this Saturday in Salisbury hosted by the Humane Society of Wicomico County! I even have signed up to walk the adoptable dogs around during the day! It’s going to be an amazing event so stop by if you can!

Sports-Baseball hockey/Basketball playoffs-This is a pretty great month for sports fans and if you know me I am definitely a sports fan. The start of baseball is this month. And I’m not going to lie, baseball is definitely last on my list of favorite sports by a good margin. I rarely watch an entire game on tv any more. However, going to a baseball game in person might be one of my favorite experiences. You don’t even have to be a fan of the game and it’s just a great experience in a great environment. Also being born in the city but raised in the country, I always love any reason to get into the city and a sports game is a great excuse to go to the city for a day or two!

NFL Draft- Seemingly getting later and later every year, we can look forward to the NFL draft the last weekend of April. This is by far number one on my list. This would be number one on my list of things I’m looking forward to every year. This is better than my birthday and every holiday all wrapped in one. I can’t exactly point to why and it doesn’t exactly make a ton of sense to me but for some reason the draft, where optimism is at its peak and dreams are being achieved, gets me more excited than any football game has. Maybe that will change if my favorite team ever accomplished anything on the field but that doesn’t look to be happening anytime soon. So therefore every year I will continue to celebrate the hopefulness the draft represents.

Cherry Blossom Festival/Filmfest DC- I know DC can be a little bit of a hike but DC in the spring is worth it. Being born not too far outside of the nation's capital I’ve always been enamored by its history and beauty. And the spring is the perfect time to visit and experience all of it at once. The Cherry Blossom Festival is still going on through the beginning of the month and filmfest DC is an event I’ve only heard great things about and am very excited to check out goin on from April 21st-May 1st.

Movie Releases- If you’re a movie person then April is going to be a good month for you! The Northman comes out April 22 and is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. This viking tale features a star studded cast including Nicole Kidman and Ethan Hawke. The Contractor is another movie that’s been talked about a lot and it actually comes out today! If you love nostalgia or have kids then I’m sure you already have plans to see Sonic The Hedgehog 2 coming out on April 8th. Michael Bay also has another thriller coming out titled Ambulance on April 8th. Mark Whalberg will be on the big screen starting April 13th in the movie Father Stu, a biographical drama.
