Happy Friday everyone! Maybe it's just me but as the weather gets warmer my excitement for the weekend gets higher and higher. This week in general was a special week for me. If you know me at all I don't really like talking about myself or being the center of attention but every year when my anniversary at My Way Leases comes up I like to take some time to reflect on the past year(s). Prior to My Way Leases I had a handful off different jobs, usually centered around sales. I sold insurance, solar panels among other things. While those jobs had varying levels of success, at no point in time did I feel like I had a career. It was a job, it paid the bills, I didn't hate it but I definitely didn't enjoy it.
From the moment I started the interview with My Way Leases things felt different. I knew 30 seconds into the conversation that this was the perfect fit and what I had wanted since I fell in love with Marketing in college. Side note; I read a statistic that Joe Burrows heart rate is actually lower in the 4th quarter with the game on the line compared to less critical moments during the game. This is scientific data that he is "cool under pressure" or lives for those big moments. I'm sure you know others with this trait. Why do I bring this up? I am the polar opposite. My physical state could be no better explained than the opening to the famous Eminem song Lose Yourself; "Palms are sweaty, knees weak arms are heavy". In fact if I had ate prior I can guarantee the next line in the song would have loosely fit as well. Hopefully you have the picture in your head now. I'm not sure how my boss saw me at that time but what I picture was a sweaty, stuttering mess with a deer in the headlights look. Even with all these nerves and built up pressure, it didn't take long into the interview for me to settle in. I was made extremely comfortable and the conversation was direct and flowed easily. I honestly didn't think it was possible with how much I had built it up and how much I wanted it but somehow my boss made it one of the more comfortable easy conversations I've had. As a person with the life motto "expect the worst, hope for the best" I definitely wouldn't say I was confident I had nailed the interview but I couldn't help but feel how great of a fit it was and just hoped they had seen the same.
Fast forward a few days and it's the first day of my first (hopefully last) career. From day one I felt at home. In my opinion it reflects one of the biggest selling points of not only working but shopping at My Way Leases. It really is like one big family. The people there care about you and what's going on in your life. The environment inside the stores is amazing and even a nervous loner like myself was incredibly comfortable from the beginning. From then on we hit the ground running and have done so many things in the past 3 years from customer appreciation days, Hispanic festivals to a brand new and improved website that allows online ordering! We have so many customer and employee based contests and giveaways. As with all businesses, the Covid pandemic threw us some curveballs but it also gave us a chance to learn and grow and try different things. The past year was much closer to normal than 2020 which I think everyone is grateful for. One of my favorite projects from the past year was getting on the radio and I'm super excited to see us get into the outdoor furniture game as well. I can't tell you how often that was suggested recently on the customer surveys! And that's another great part about being at My Way Leases. If something makes sense and is what people want then they'll do it. They are always thinking about the people and how to make things easier, faster and more affordable for them. Somehow this post got away from me and got way longer than I intended but at the same time I could go on and on. While my life doesn't revolve around work, most people work 40+ hours a week, every week for most of their lives. That's a huge portion of your life. And I am just elated to finally be at a place that I can truly enjoy and challenge myself and grow with as the future goes on. And while I have nothing but amazing things to say about My Way Leases and my time here so far, I can also confidently state that the best is yet to come for all parties involved.
